History The Library's latest addition is the newly created Tech Annex.  This space was previously used to store various historical artifacts of Blue Island.  One day, a gracious donor provided the Historical Society with a house to serve as a museum.  This provided the Historical Society the space they needed to store their artifacts.  The idea was pitched to the Library Administration and Library Board to create a multi-purpose, advanced technology space.  Thanks to their vision, the Tech Annex became a reality.  The Library would personally like to thank the Friends and Foundation of the Blue Island Public Library for their seed money and Mayor Peloquin for officially opening the room by providing a ribbon-cutting ceremony, which took place on April 6, 2006.

Purpose

1.  Provide a safe place for teens to be creative, learn new skills and just hang out.
2.  Provide a space for computer classes.
3.  Provide a space for patron programs.
4.  Function as a recording studio.
5.  Provide a space for staff meetings and training.
