Borrowing Materials

The Blue Island Public Library lends a variety of materials--books, magazines, videos, CDs, DVDs, audiobooks--to the members of our community. Our collection is also available to other members of the Metropolitan Library System and beyond through reciprocal borrowing agreements and interlibrary loan. In the same way, Blue Island residents have access to materials from practically anywhere in the state or country!

Books, audiobooks, and CD's may be checked out for two weeks. Videotapes, DVDs, and back issues of magazines may be checked out for one week. According to library policy, special loans for teachers may also be available. Please inquire at the library's front desk.

The SWAN catalog may searched at home as well as in the library. Through this online tool, you can find information about the 1,000,000+ items available throughout the Suburban Library System, and you can even place your own holds. If you need help searching the catalog, or obtaining material, never hesitate to ask a librarian for assistance.
